JUDITH ADELMANN, born in Cologne, lives and works in Munich.
In her ceramic sculptures and large-scale installations Judith Adelmann focusses on formal and structural everyday paradoxes such as hard and soft, exclusive and accessible, threatening and comforting. The way in which she uses the material clay challenges its tradition and the aesthetic clichés generally associated with it. By combining ceramics with common materials and found objects, constellations and relations emerge, laying no demand to consistency, clarity or narrative continuity but aiming for an internal logic. Daily life experiences and -objects serve as starting point of considerations about social relations and structures, questions of value and futurevisions through the tactile process of working with the material clay.
Judith Adelmann is currently a student and assistant of Nicole Wermers at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich – a class previously taught by Norbert Prangenberg, she has also studied at L'ERG Brussels, Belgium in the class of Joëlle Tuerlinckx and at Ludwig-Maximillians-University Munich (M.A. Arteducation, Arthistory, Literature).
Her work was part of group shows, such as Vent at Vent Gallery Vienna (2018), Jahresgaben at Kunstverein, Munich (2017), XOXO at Soy Capitán Gallery, Berlin (2017), Young Positions at Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle, Munich (2017), Arkadenale_go to paradies, Kunstarkaden Munich (2017), SMALL:SHORT:SHOW, Erg Galerie, Brussels (2016), Karl&Faber Kunstpreis, Munich (2016), Subspaces, Wolke, Brussels (2016), Markus Karstieß & Friends, Weltkunstzimmer, Düsseldorf (2015). RŪTENĖ MERK is a painter from Lithuania who works and lives both in Vilnius and Munich.
With her works RÅ«tenÄ— Merk describes the uncanny reality of remembered and internalized objects and experiences that have never been part of one own’s experiences, resulting in a disturbing collision of real and virtual aspects of the own experience.
The exhibition at Parallel 2018 features paintings of figures, objects and artefacts which originate from sources such as movies, video games and cultural history. For example, a portrait of the main character from the first fully animated motion picture “Final Fantasy: The Spirits within”, a 3.000 year old Egyptian statue resembling the ”King of Pop” Michael Jackson and the trusty companion of Chuck Noland (played by Tom Hanks) from the movie “Cast Away”.
RÅ«tenÄ— Merk received her bachelor’s degree in painting in 2013 from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts (AdBK) in Munich.

PHILIPP PESS lives and works in Vienna.
The concurrent presence of everything created, so the medieval theologians have taught, is HELL.
The world wide web does not forget. Under these auspices the Internet can be understood as a place of world blockage, a grand error, as a digital hell. The whole Dantesque terrain opens, only that on the web even the infernal circles, as a figure of order, are abolished. In addition to these thoughts, Pess creates virtual reenactments of infernal landscapes. Areas are photographed in their entirety, meter by meter, and rearranged in a virtual 3D-Model. The resulting scenarios, made out of the original 3D-Scans, photographies and also found footage from the Web, are then filmed or photographed with a virtual camera within the 3D-simulation and subsequently completed with digitally drawn intervening elements. Furthermore, his works aim to generate depoliticized substitute worlds which are detached from respective relations of life and power of the visualized scene.
The ductus of landscape as a construct of politically shaped and subjective perception transforms into a virtual simulation of landscape, while presentation mechanisms of reality and its manifestations lead to the creation of surrogates.

REBECCA MERLIC
REBECCA MERLIC, *1989 in Germany, retreats between Tokyo, Munich and Vienna.
She recently graduated with distinction at the Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied under Wolfgang Tschapeller, Francois Roché and Michael Hannsmeyer. In her studies she specialized on analogue and digital art as well as architecture. Her work is strongly influenced by alternative ways of society and transgression in socio-economic conventions as well as new forms of architectural production employing new technologies. During her masters she was able to study at Astushi KITAGAWARA Lab at Tokyo University of the Arts GEIDAI. She is a holder of the Marianne von Willemer Prize 2020 for digital media and the merit scholarship of the City of Vienna. Currently she is working on the topic of social inclusion at the American Arts Incubator - Austria with lead artist Rashin Fahandej. Her work is also on display at ADAF Athens Digital Arts 2020 in Greece.

IVO RICK. SPACES IN BETWEEN
Ivo Ricks artwork begins – at an intersection – defying the obvious.

Many of his works are reminiscent of appliances that are meant to fulfil a purpose or a function. They exist in neutral white tones and are made of different assembly parts produced in series. 
They simulate a function which makes perceiving them a balancing act and so their function is at first superfluous. 
The familiar has disposed of being banal, defying time and effort, i.e. use. Although these works are seemingly neutral and "cool", this idea is highly romantic, because it conjures up ideas of mystic absolutism – meaning without function. 
All function entails usage, wear and tear and the ultimate destruction thereof. The unspecific, non-functional object is therefore spared; it does not become an arena and maintains its perfection.

Ivo Rick (*1989 in Borken) lives and works in Munich. 2010-2017 he studied at AdBK München, where he was Olaf Metzel's master student in 2016, 2015 he studied abroad at ECA, Edinburgh. For his diploma at AdBK Munichen (2017) he was honored with the price of the Akademieverein.

SIRA-ZOÉ SCHMID, born in 1985 in Vienna, lives and works in Vienna and Salzburg.
​
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the class «Fine Art and Photography» under Matthias Herrmann and Martin Guttmann and graduated in 2013.
​
Working within the “extended field of photography” Sira-Zoé Schmid explores the different (multilayered) possibilities of multimedia pictorial invention. The examination of all media and sociocultural topics that surround us are very important to her and are conducive to her artistic work.

NERINGA VASILIAUSKAITE lives and works in Munich.
Born in1984 in Lithuania, Neringa Vasiliauskaitė is a visual artist, currently residing and working in Germany. After completing her studies in Vilnius Fine Arts academy in Vilnius (Lithuania) she continued to develop her interest in space and its relation to the objects in it as an artistic practise at the Munich Academy of Arts in Munich, Germany. At the Academy she has finished a Glass and Ceramic class by prof. Nicole Wermers in 2018. Her works blend theories of biology and technology. Amongst other things, she concerns herself with the manufacturing processes and properties of materials, such as latex and neoprene and sets these in comparison to the constitution and biological „production“ of the human skin. Much like a snake’s constant and continuous transformation, the artist complements her studies with various topics such as the societally imposed „control of the body“ in the age of digitalisation, as well as the constraints of self-optimisation.
Vasiliauskaitė’s works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Germany, Lithuania and France. She won the Art Karlsruhe Preis/2017 (GER), the Scholarship for the Artist in Residence Programm at the International House of Artists Villa Concordia, Bamberg (GER), 2019 she had a solo show
'DebutantInnen 2019' at Galerie der Künstler, Munich (GER) and her works are a part of multiple public and private collections.
